Plants naturally pull CO₂ from the air through photosynthesis and store it in their biomass. We convert the biomass waste residues (e.g.miaze stalks, cocoa pods) into biochar. That biochar is stable carbon that then is mixed with compost and returned to farmers’ soils as a natural fertilizer. By doing this, we put stable carbon back into the ground, where it stays securely locked away for thousands of years while improving soil health and yields. This climate contribution has measurable monetary value and is then turned into a so-called “carbon removal certificate”. When we as CarbonConnect are selling a certificate, 40% of the revenue is transferred directly to the farmer via mobile payment.

This whole process is called carbon removal: CO₂ is taken out of the atmosphere and stored safely in the soil. Unlike traditional mitigation approaches that only reduce future emissions, biochar removal actively reverses past emissions - delivering climate impact and social benefits at the scale truly needed to address climate change and secure a future our grandchildren can thrive in.
